Airports & Travel Information

Thessaloniki — SKG (Makedonia Airport)

  • Distance / drive time: about 130-140 km from Platamonas - roughly 1.5 hours by car (depending on traffic).

  • Flights: major domestic and international hub; served by most European carriers and connections, so it’s often the easiest option for direct flights from many countries.

  • Notes: shortest transfer time to Platamonas — popular choice for wedding guests arriving from across Europe.

Athens — ATH (Eleftherios Venizelos)

  • Distance / drive time: about 380-430 km - roughly 4.5 hours by car from Platamonas.

  • Flights: Greece’s main international airport with frequent flights from most international airports worldwide - a good option if you find a convenient connection or lower fares.

  • Notes: longer drive but more flight options and frequencies; consider an internal flight or train if you prefer to avoid the full drive.

Volos (Nea Anchialos) - VOL (Central Greece / Nea Anchialos Airport)

  • Distance / drive time: about 105-140 km, roughly 1.5 hours by car from Platamonas (depends on routing).

  • Flights: Volos is served seasonally by low-cost carriers; notably Ryanair operates direct flights from Brussels-Charleroi (CRL), a convenient option for guests coming from the Benelux. Check schedules as routes can be seasonal.

  • Notes: great if you’re coming from Belgium/Benelux when the CRL–VOL route is operating; otherwise expect fewer international connections than SKG or ATH.

For the best and most comfortable experience during your stay, we highly recommend having access to a car - either your own or a rental. The area around Platamonas is full of beautiful beaches, traditional villages, and nearby sights that are easiest to reach by driving. Renting a car is simple and affordable, and gives you the freedom to explore the region at your own pace. Enjoy the journey!
